Teaching and internships

The art of furniture making and restoration have been taught by masters to students for generations. However since the 1960s this trend has changed; no longer is traditional restoration being taught at all; it has been replaced by Conservation and Preservation being taught at the university level.

Salve Regina University is one institution that appreciates traditional craftsmanship in conjunction with Cultural and Historic studies.

The photographs depict students being taught the art, history of Marquetry and traditional skills; also, veneer repair and conservation of a lacquered screen.
